# Restaurant search visibility monitoring on delivery apps > Search visibility monitoring records where a restaurant actually appears in a delivery app's customer facing listings, measured from real points across a city's districts and repeated over time. It exists because the restaurant cannot see its own listing the way customers do, and because the party selling placement on that listing is also the party reporting how the placement performed. Full page: https://kitchain.co/visibility-monitoring/ ## What is measured - **Position by district.** The customer facing rank of a brand at real map points across the city, since delivery app ranking is local by construction: https://kitchain.co/delivery-app-search-ranking/ - **Repeated snapshots.** Positions are taken at set times of day in each city's own timezone, so a lunchtime reading is compared with lunchtime rather than with midnight, and a single anomalous reading is visible as an anomaly rather than a fact. - **Trend over time.** Position lines with dates, so a campaign, a competitor push or a platform change shows up as movement that can be attributed. - **Who sits above you.** The competitor names that appear above the brand at the same measured point, and how consistently they do, which turns a position into a named contest rather than a number. - **Portfolio view.** For a group, every brand at once, which surfaces the brands that never appear in a district at all. ## What makes the reading trustworthy Visibility data is easy to produce and easy to produce wrongly. Three conditions separate a measurement from a number: - **Sampling that matches the geography.** One address is one point of a rank surface. Coverage of the districts the brand actually serves is what makes an average meaningful. - **Availability context.** A store that was offline at capture time ranks low or vanishes for operational reasons. Reading visibility without availability data produces algorithmic explanations for operational events. - **A stated object of measurement.** The public signed out view is reproducible. Personalised feeds are not. Saying which one is being measured is the difference between a benchmark and a claim. ## What it is used for Evaluating paid visibility independently of the platform that sold it. Catching a slide from the first screen to the third in a district, which reads as soft demand until the position trend is on the table. Answering continuously, rather than once a quarter by hand, who leads the category in each district. Kitchain Visibility implements this measurement from map points saved per account, at set times of day in each city's own timezone: https://kitchain.co/ai/products/visibility.md.
