About DoorDash

DoorDash, Inc. was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in San Francisco. As of August 2026 DoorDash owns Wolt (completed June 2022) and Deliveroo (completed October 2025), and both keep their own brands and their own partner tools. The DoorDash-brand app itself operates in four countries: the United States (including Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico), Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In the second quarter of 2026 the group handled 970 million orders and $33.1 billion of marketplace order value across about 40 countries.

A restaurant runs DoorDash through three tools: the web Merchant Portal for menus, hours, promotions and temporary deactivation; the Order Manager app on a tablet in the kitchen; and the Business Manager mobile app for pausing orders, changing hours and marking items out of stock. In the United States, restaurants with 75 or fewer locations choose a Partnership Plan: Basic at 15% delivery commission, Plus at 25% and Premier at 30%, with pickup at 6% on every plan. The plan also decides the delivery radius, from customers nearby on Basic to the widest range on Premier, and only Plus and Premier reach DashPass subscribers. Larger chains negotiate custom rates, and pricing outside the US may differ.

Third-party estimates put DoorDash at about 56% of US food-delivery sales, ahead of Uber Eats and Grubhub. The company now describes itself as a local-commerce platform: grocery and retail, DoorDash Ads, restaurant software such as SevenRooms and Storefront – over 150,000 merchants on its digital ordering service by the second quarter of 2026 – and an AI assistant called Ask. For a chain, the practical consequence is scale: one brand can hold hundreds of DoorDash store pages across four countries, and DoorDash holds each of them to the hours the chain itself posted – the Premier plan's first-six-months order guarantee only holds for a store open 90% of the hours set in the Merchant Portal.

Where DoorDash operates

As of August 2026 the DoorDash brand serves four countries. Puerto Rico is a US territory served as part of DoorDash US and appears below only because it has its own country code. Restaurants in the wider group's other markets, across Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere, are listed through the Wolt or Deliveroo brands rather than through DoorDash, and Kitchain treats those as separate platforms.

DoorDash's own-brand apps in Japan (launched June 2021) and Germany (November 2021) were folded into the Wolt brand when the Wolt acquisition closed on 1 June 2022, and the DoorDash-brand footprint has not changed in 2025 or 2026.

Kitchain on DoorDash: six monitors, one outside-in method

Kitchain reads the same public DoorDash pages a customer opens. There is no partner-portal login, no API key and no point-of-sale integration: you give us one listing per location, and each monitor reads what the customer is shown. Availability is checked about every 10 minutes per listing; ratings, promotions and menus are captured daily; listing position is measured at set times of day from real addresses; delivery coverage is captured for the platform and hour you book.

DoorDash downtime and availability alerts: Kitchain Alert

Live on DoorDash

On DoorDash a store can stop selling without anyone closing it. Store hours in the Merchant Portal decide when the listing takes orders, and a manager can pause orders or temporarily deactivate the store from the portal, the kitchen tablet or a phone. A pause nobody lifts after the rush, or a tablet switched off on Saturday night, leaves the customer looking at a closed store while head office sees nothing; DoorDash's own Operations report records that downtime only afterwards.

Kitchain Alert opens each DoorDash store page as a customer would, about every 10 minutes, 24/7, and counts DoorDash downtime only within the hours you gave us. After a confirmation check, an alert goes out by Email, WhatsApp or Telegram, typically 10–20 minutes after the store went offline, in the location's own time zone from Toronto to Auckland. The daily report at 10:00 local time ranks stores by lost uptime and lists the longest outages with timestamps you can put in front of DoorDash.

DoorDash rating tracking: Kitchain Rating

Connected on request

DoorDash shows a store score on a 1–5 scale that combines recent post-order ratings with historical star ratings, and in selected US, Canadian and Australian markets it also publishes written reviews carrying a Verified Order label. Item-level thumbs up and down decide which three dishes carry the Most Liked label, assigned automatically and not exposed in the Merchant Portal, and stores with high accuracy and timeliness earn a Most Loved All Stars badge. Because recent orders feed the score, two weeks of late handovers at one store moves that store's number while the brand average holds.

Kitchain Rating collects the public rating and review count for every DoorDash store once a day, so DoorDash rating monitoring becomes a history: which stores sit below your target, which platform shows a different number for the same kitchen, and the week a decline began. Review text is never read. For DoorDash this monitor is connected on request: tell us the cities and brands you want covered.

DoorDash promotion monitoring: Kitchain Promo

Connected on request

DoorDash promotions sit on the store card and page: $0 Delivery Fee offers, discounts and free-item deals, often aimed at new or lapsed customers, next to Sponsored Listings that put a store on the homepage and top of search, charged per attributed order. A chain sets these up centrally and learns weeks later that one store never showed the offer, that the displayed discount differs from the intended one, or that a campaign ended at some stores and not others. Nothing in the chain's own systems flags it; from their side the campaign was created.

Kitchain Promo captures what a customer can see for each DoorDash store once a day, on the same visit as the availability check, and records competitors' offers in the same area, so 10% off where every neighbour offers 20% becomes a fact rather than a hunch. A daily capture says whether a campaign is live, not the minute it dropped. On DoorDash, Promo is connected on request; send us the brands and cities.

Where you rank in the DoorDash listing: Kitchain Visibility

What a customer sees at a point on the map is an ordered feed: your card somewhere in it, Sponsored Listings on the homepage and at the top of search, DoorDash's Top 10 lists and Most Loved All Stars badges. Whether you are in it at all depends on the delivery range your plan tier buys, so two stores of one brand a few streets apart can hold very different DoorDash listing positions.

Kitchain Visibility measures that position from saved map points at set times of day in the city's own time zone: rank in the whole feed, rank within your cuisine, and the competitor cards above you with their rating, promotion and quoted delivery time. This is not Google SEO but DoorDash's own ordering of restaurants for a customer at a given spot, and a district where the brand never reaches the first screen shows as a hole on the map. Visibility is set up per account for the cities and platforms you name, DoorDash included.

DoorDash delivery coverage by zone: Kitchain Coverage

What a DoorDash customer finds out is simple: type an address, and your store either appears with a quoted delivery time or it does not. The radius behind that answer is DoorDash's to set, not the chain's. A store can cover a whole suburb on paper yet be unavailable to its outer streets at Friday dinner, or be quoted the best part of an hour where a competitor is quoted half that. Neither is visible from inside the business.

Kitchain Coverage records, zone by zone, what DoorDash delivery coverage actually looks like for each store: whether it is orderable and the delivery time it quotes, from captures you book for a chosen platform and hour against a monthly allowance. It is not continuous and sends no alerts; it shows what Friday 19:00 looked like across the city, next to competing brands measured at the same hour. The quoted time is what DoorDash showed, not the real delivery time. Coverage is configured per account for the platforms and cities you name.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kitchain need access to our DoorDash merchant account or POS?

No. Kitchain opens the same public DoorDash store page a customer opens, and never signs in to a DoorDash merchant account or your POS. Setup takes about 10 minutes: one store URL or ID per location, no integration, and nothing on DoorDash is ever changed.

A branch pauses orders during a rush. Does Kitchain count that as downtime?

Only if it is still paused when your schedule says the store should be trading. The record matters more than the alarm: a start and an end timestamp for every outage, so a duration is measured rather than remembered, and a weekday-by-hour grid showing whether the same Friday evening slot goes dark week after week.

Can Kitchain track our Sponsored Listings and Most Liked items?

Only as far as a customer can see them. A paid placement shows up as a change in measured position at the same points and times of day, before and after. The Most Liked label sits on the public store page, but it is not among the fields Kitchain records: item captures cover the item, its displayed price and whether it is available. Ad spend stays a portal question.

We run 300 stores across four countries. How are alert recipients and time zones set per location?

Recipients are set per location: a branch manager gets only their own store, a country lead gets their region, the operations lead gets everything, so nobody learns to mute the channel. Hours and time zone are held per store too, so a 300-store estate across four countries never wakes the wrong person at 03:00, and an alert nobody acknowledges escalates to the next name on the list.

Facts about DoorDash are as of August 2026 and drawn from public company and press sources. Markets, ownership and partner tools change; confirm with DoorDash before relying on them. Kitchain is independent of DoorDash and reads only its public customer-facing pages.
