Monitor Your Restaurants on Foody in Cyprus

Foody is Cyprus's first food-delivery app and, as of August 2026, a Delivery Hero SE subsidiary serving one market: the Republic of Cyprus, from Nicosia to Paphos. Its app advertises 2,100+ stores, it mixes store-delivered and Delivered by Foody listings, and it sells a foody pro subscription. Below are the facts a chain needs and how Kitchain monitors Foody listings from the customer's side.

Foody at a glance

About Foody

Foody started in Nicosia in 2015, built by Argyris Argyrou and the Ideas2life team, and by the time Delivery Hero SE agreed to buy it in July 2019 (completed that September) it had 600+ restaurant and café partners, 130,000+ monthly orders and 40 employees. Growth since then has been local rather than international: at the launch of the foody pro subscription in October 2023 the company cited more than 3,000 partner stores, over 600,000 orders a month, 150 employees and more than 1,000 delivery partners. Its app-store copy in August 2026 puts the catalogue at 2,100+ stores across all cities of Cyprus, below the 2023 press figure.

Ownership is in flux as of August 2026. On 16 July 2026 Uber signed a business combination agreement with Delivery Hero and launched a takeover offer, and in a separate deal conditional on that one closing, the New York investment firm SSW Partners agreed to buy Delivery Hero's businesses in 14 markets, Foody in Cyprus among them, for about USD 1.6 billion. Nothing has closed: completion is expected in the second half of 2027 subject to regulatory approvals, so Foody remains a Delivery Hero subsidiary today and would go to SSW Partners, not Uber, if the deal completes. For a chain, the counterparty on a Foody contract may change during 2027, but today's agreement is with Delivery Hero.

On the restaurant side Foody is a hybrid marketplace. Many Cypriot restaurants deliver with their own fleet and set their own delivery radius on the platform; others use Delivered by Foody, the company's freelance-rider network. Stores manage orders, item availability, opening hours and discounts through the Foody Partner web portal (a white-labelled version of Delivery Hero's Vendor Portal) and the foody partner mobile app. Customers rate stores with stars and reviews, and paid visibility boosts sit alongside store-funded offers. Its main competitors are Wolt and Bolt Food; third-party guides call Foody the local player with the deepest coverage of independent tavernas, bakeries and coffee shops.

Where Foody operates

As of August 2026 Foody operates in exactly one country. It has never expanded abroad and is not part of a multi-country brand. Service runs across the Republic of Cyprus, with separate city pages for the four main cities and for Paralimni and Agia Napa, and the consumer app is available in English, Greek and Russian.

Kitchain on Foody: six monitors, one outside-in method

Kitchain reads the same public Foody pages a customer opens. There is no partner-portal login, no API key and no point-of-sale integration: you give us one listing per location, and each monitor reads what the customer is shown. Availability is checked about every 10 minutes per listing; ratings, promotions and menus are captured daily; listing position is measured at set times of day from real addresses; delivery coverage is captured for the platform and hour you book.

Foody downtime and availability alerts: Kitchain Alert

Live on Foody

On Foody a branch stops selling in ways head office does not see: a store-delivered outlet whose tablet was switched off after the Saturday shift, a listing shown closed while the schedule says open, a store whose delivery mode is off so only take-away remains, or one that has simply vanished from the Limassol feed. Customers do not report Foody downtime; they order from the Wolt or Bolt Food listing next to yours.

Kitchain Alert opens the public Foody page for every location you give us about every 10 minutes, 24/7, and confirms an outage before raising it, so a typical alert lands 10–20 minutes after a location goes offline, by Email, WhatsApp or Telegram to whoever owns that branch. Each incident is logged with start, end and duration for the compensation conversation, and a daily report at 10:00 Cyprus time ranks locations by lost uptime. Alert is live on Foody today.

Foody rating tracking: Kitchain Rating

Connected on request

Foody shows a public star rating for every store, and on this platform it decides more than reputation: Foody's Red Selection is a curated list of the highest-rated restaurants in each district, and Foody also offers a Recommended stores filter, so a rating that drifts down costs a branch its place in the lists customers browse first. Third-party guides note Foody ratings skew high, so a slip that would be unremarkable elsewhere stands out here. Kitchain Rating records the public Foody rating, and the review count where Foody shows one, for each location daily, so a decline has a start date to set against a rider change or a new menu, and the review count says how fast the number can move: 300 reviews absorb a bad week, 30 do not. Rating is connected to Foody on request: tell us the cities and brands you run there and we switch it on.

Foody promotion monitoring: Kitchain Promo

Live on Foody

Foody promotions are store-funded discounts and offers, shown on the listing card and in the app's exclusive offers section, alongside the Pro Deals badge for stores taking part in foody pro. What a chain configures in the Foody Partner tools is not always what a customer in Larnaca sees: an offer set through the discounts function ends a day early, a 20% discount displays as 10%, or one branch is left out of the campaign and nobody notices until the weekly numbers. Kitchain Promo captures Foody promotions once a day per location, on the same visit that checks availability, records what was visible and what was not, and alerts you when an expected promotion is missing. It also records what nearby competitors on Foody are discounting, so a quiet week in Paphos can be read against the market rather than blamed on the kitchen. Promo is live on Foody.

Where you rank in the Foody listing: Kitchain Visibility

A customer in Strovolos or on the Limassol seafront sees Foody's ranked list of stores for their address, narrowed by the Recommended stores and Pro filters and shadowed by the Red Selection. Paid boosts are on sale on top of that: one new restaurant told Cyprus Mail its boosting charges for Foody alone came to over EUR 400 a month. Whether that money moved your Foody listing position, and which competitor cards sit above you with their rating, offer and quoted delivery time, is what Kitchain Visibility measures: rank in the whole feed and rank within your cuisine, read from saved map points across the four main cities and the Paralimni–Agia Napa area at set times of day in Cyprus time. This is not Google SEO; it is Foody's own ordering of stores. Visibility is set up per account for the cities and platforms you name, so Foody can sit beside Wolt and Bolt Food for the same points and hours.

Foody delivery coverage by district: Kitchain Coverage

Foody delivery zone rules differ by listing. A self-delivering store has its own radius set on the platform, while Delivered by Foody stores serve customers within 5 km of the address for foody pro free delivery, so a chain ends up with a patchwork: one branch's radius set years ago, another moved to Foody's riders, and a gap between them in a district that orders every Friday. Kitchain Coverage measures, zone by zone, whether each of your brands can be ordered on Foody from that zone and the delivery time Foody quotes there, from captures you book for the platform and hour that matter, Friday dinner or Sunday lunch, against a monthly allowance. It is not continuous and there are no alerts, and the quoted time is what Foody shows the customer, not how long the order really took. Coverage is configured per account for the cities and platforms you name.

Frequently asked questions

Do we deliver our own orders on Foody, or does Foody?

Both models run on Foody, and a listing is one or the other. Many Cypriot stores keep their own fleet and set their own delivery radius on the platform; the rest are handled by Delivered by Foody, the freelance-rider network Foody said counted more than 1,000 delivery partners at the October 2023 foody pro launch. Which one your branch uses decides its radius.

What commission does Foody charge restaurants?

Foody does not publish a rate card. Cyprus Mail reported in January 2025 that restaurateurs cited 23–25% on delivery orders and about 10% on take-away orders across the platforms (Foody, Wolt and Bolt) collectively, with one restaurant citing 19%; Foody said it had not raised its fees and both Foody and Wolt described their policies as flexible. Paid boosts are charged on top.

How does foody pro affect our listing?

Participation is voluntary, branch by branch. Stores that opt in carry a foody pro or Pro Deals badge and appear under the app's dedicated Pro filter. A minimum basket of EUR 8 applies for food and coffee stores, so low-ticket orders are excluded. The last price Foody published was EUR 5.99 a month or EUR 49.99 a year (January 2025); the July 2026 terms name no figure.

What does Kitchain need to start monitoring our Foody listings?

One Foody listing URL or store ID per location, and the people who should receive alerts for each branch. Setup takes about 10 minutes and there is no integration: Kitchain does not sign in to Foody Partner, your POS or your middleware. It opens the same public Foody pages a customer in Cyprus opens, and reports what they show.

Facts about Foody are as of August 2026 and drawn from public company and press sources. Markets, ownership and partner tools change; confirm with Foody before relying on them. Kitchain is independent of Foody and reads only its public customer-facing pages.
