Monitor Your Restaurants on Bolt Food

This page sets out its markets, ownership and merchant tools, and how Kitchain monitors a chain's Bolt Food listings from the outside, the way a customer sees them.

About Bolt Food

Bolt Technology OÜ was founded in Tallinn in 2013 as Taxify by Markus and Martin Villig with Oliver Leisalu, and renamed Bolt in March 2019. Bolt Food followed in August 2019, in Tallinn, reaching Vilnius that November, then Riga, Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Bucharest, Lisbon and Kyiv during 2020. As of August 2026 Bolt remains privately held: a Crowdcube secondary sale in September 2025 priced the group at €6.3bn, about 14% below its 2022 peak of €7.4bn. The group posted its first annual net profit for 2025, on €2.27bn revenue, with food and grocery delivery contributing 11%.

For a restaurant, Bolt Food runs on two tools: the web Merchant Portal (foodpartner.bolt.eu), where a chain manages opening times, the menu editor, promotions, weekly invoices, CSV order reports and an 'Add new venue' flow for extra locations, and the Bolt Merchant app on a Bolt-supplied tablet or the restaurant's own devices, where orders arrive and must be accepted within five minutes; a POS integration can replace the device entirely. New chains sign up at partners.food.bolt.eu. Orders reach the customer by Bolt courier, by the restaurant's own drivers under 'Own Delivery', or by pickup. Fee rates are defined in local terms and not published; payouts run on a weekly Monday-to-Sunday cycle, paid the following Monday.

Since 2023 the strategy has been to cut unprofitable markets and grow beyond restaurants: Bolt Market dark stores, partner supermarkets in several markets, the Bolt Plus subscription with free delivery from venues marked '+', and Bolt Food Finance, a revenue-based advance for partner restaurants launched in Latvia in 2025. Bulgaria, entered in 2025, had four cities and 1,000+ restaurant partners by June 2026. Bolt Food is a challenger in most markets, usually against Wolt and Glovo, which is why a chain's position in its listing, its promotions and its uptime are worth watching from the customer's side rather than the portal's.

Where Bolt Food operates

As of August 2026 Bolt Food takes restaurant orders in 16 countries, 14 in Europe and two in Africa. The Baltic home markets date from 2019 and 2020; most of Central and Eastern Europe, Cyprus, Malta, Portugal and Ghana followed in 2020, Azerbaijan and Kenya in 2021, and Bulgaria most recently. City coverage is uneven: Ukraine runs to dozens of cities while Bulgaria, entered in 2025, has four. Each row below is one active market with its launch year. Kitchain monitors listings in any of these markets, as it does on 40+ delivery platforms in 30+ countries.

Kitchain on Bolt Food: six monitors, one outside-in method

Kitchain reads the same public Bolt Food pages a customer opens. There is no partner-portal login, no API key and no point-of-sale integration: you give us one listing per location, and each monitor reads what the customer is shown. Availability is checked about every 10 minutes per listing; ratings, promotions and menus are captured daily; listing position is measured at set times of day from real addresses; delivery coverage is captured for the platform and hour you book.

Alert Rating Promo Menu Visibility Coverage

Bolt Food downtime and availability alerts: Kitchain Alert

Live on Bolt Food

On Bolt Food a venue is shown according to the opening times set in the Merchant Portal, and Holiday Mode hides it for the dates chosen, without denting its availability metrics, and can be ended early. Bolt's own robocalls fire when the Bolt Merchant tablet is offline during opening hours or fails to come online at opening time, and when an order sits unaccepted. But an unanswered call never reaches head office; the customer in Riga or Warsaw just sees a venue marked closed. Kitchain Alert checks each Bolt Food listing about every 10 minutes, 24/7, as a customer would, and sends an alert by Email, WhatsApp or Telegram 10–20 minutes after a location goes offline, once a confirmation check rules out a blink.

Bolt Food downtime is logged per location with start, end and duration, against the hours you gave us, so a Sunday closure is not an incident and a repeating Friday 19:00 gap is. The daily report at 10:00 local time ranks the worst branches.

Bolt Food rating tracking: Kitchain Rating

Live on Bolt Food

Bolt Food asks the customer after every delivery to rate the courier with a thumbs up or down and the restaurant on an emoji scale, with optional written feedback that Bolt does not publish and the customer cannot edit afterwards. What reaches the public is the score Bolt Food shows on the venue page, and that score decides whether a customer in Vilnius or Nairobi taps your card or the next one. Because the courier is rated separately, a slide in a Bolt Food rating points more often at food, packaging or a menu that reads differently there than at delivery.

Kitchain Rating turns Bolt Food rating monitoring into a daily record: it collects the publicly shown rating, and the count behind it where Bolt Food displays one, for every location, keeps the history and lists the branches under the threshold you set, so a six-week slide has a start date you can line up against a recipe change or a new supplier rather than a quarter-end surprise.

Bolt Food promotion monitoring: Kitchain Promo

Connected on request

Bolt Food promotions are built in the Merchant Portal as menu-wide discounts, selected-item discounts, new-customer offers or free delivery, with start and end dates, a 30-day maximum, and a new promotion that can only be set every two weeks; two-for-one, free-item, combo and tiered deals go through Bolt Support, and when offers overlap only the higher discount applies. The failures are quiet: a 30-day offer expires mid-campaign, a Support-created combo never reaches Plovdiv, or a second offer overlaps and the deeper discount is the one customers see. No error is raised anywhere: the customer in Sofia sees a plain card beside a competitor card carrying a discount label.

Kitchain Promo captures what a customer can see, once a day per location, on the same visit as the availability check, records 'no promotion today' as a fact, and benchmarks competitors' discounts in the same area. On Bolt Food it is connected on request: tell us the cities and brands.

Where you rank in the Bolt Food listing: Kitchain Visibility

What Bolt Food publishes about placement is short: a paid sponsored listing that places a venue prominently in the app, the 'Specials' carousels where promoted venues surface, and the '+' badge that marks Bolt Plus partner venues with free and priority delivery. What a customer at a given address is actually shown first is not something Bolt reports back to you. The same feed also carries supermarkets and Bolt Market, so a burger brand in Kraków competes for screen space with a grocery card. The Merchant Portal reports menu-view-to-order conversion, which starts only once a customer has found you.

Kitchain Visibility measures your Bolt Food listing position from saved map points at set times of day in the city's own timezone, both in the whole feed and within your cuisine, and records the competitor cards above you with their rating, promotion and quoted delivery time. It is not Google SEO. Visibility is configured per account for the cities and platforms you name.

Kitchain Visibility — Position in the platform listing, measured by address →

Bolt Food delivery coverage by district: Kitchain Coverage

A Bolt Food delivery zone is set per city by Bolt and not published, and couriers only receive requests from venues within a radius that depends on whether they ride a bike, a scooter or a car. So the ring a branch serves on a Friday evening in Bucharest or Tbilisi is not a number head office holds, and it moves with courier supply. The customer sees only what the app shows at their address: orderable with a quoted wait, or nothing at all.

Kitchain Coverage captures, zone by zone, whether your brand is orderable and the delivery time the app quotes, for the platform and hour you book against a monthly allowance. It is not continuous, sends no alerts, and the quoted time is what Bolt Food shows, not the real one. Like Visibility, Coverage is set up per account; tell us the cities and the hours that matter.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kitchain monitor Bolt Food in every country it operates in?

Yes. Kitchain Alert, Rating and Menu run on Bolt Food listings in any of its 16 markets as of August 2026, from Estonia to Ghana, because the check opens the same public venue page a customer opens. Setup takes about 10 minutes: one restaurant ID or listing URL per location on Bolt Food, and no integration with the Merchant Portal or your POS.

Do supermarkets and Bolt Market listings affect a restaurant's visibility on Bolt Food?

They can. Partner supermarkets and Bolt Market share the Bolt Food app and courier network with restaurants, so at a given address a grocery card can sit above a restaurant in the feed or in search results. Kitchain Visibility records which cards appear above yours at each measured point, retail included, so the competition you actually face is on the screen.

Can Kitchain see the ratings breakdown Bolt Food shows in the Merchant Portal?

No. Kitchain never signs in to the Merchant Portal, the Bolt Merchant app or your POS; it reads only the rating a customer sees on the public venue page, and Bolt Food does not publish written reviews, so there is no review text to read. What you get is the daily history of that public score per location, set beside Wolt or Glovo where you also list.

Can Kitchain tell whether a Bolt Food outage was the branch's fault or Bolt's?

Not directly. Kitchain records when a venue stopped being orderable and when it returned, per location, with timestamps; it does not see the tablet, the robocall or Bolt's systems. What it adds is the pattern: one branch dropping at the same hour each week points at the shift or the device, while every branch in a city vanishing together points at the platform.

Facts about Bolt Food are as of August 2026 and drawn from public company and press sources. Markets, ownership and partner tools change; confirm with Bolt Food before relying on them. Kitchain is independent of Bolt Food and reads only its public customer-facing pages.
