About Just Eat
Just Eat began in Kolding, Denmark, in 2001 and moved its headquarters to London in 2006, growing into the long-time leader of UK food delivery. Just Eat plc combined with Takeaway.com to form Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET), headquartered in Amsterdam. As of August 2026 JET is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Prosus: the EUR 20.30-a-share offer, valuing the group at about EUR 4.1 billion, went unconditional in October 2025, and a June 2026 court squeeze-out ordered the remaining minority shares to Prosus.
The model is hybrid: a partner either delivers its own orders or uses Just Eat Delivery, the platform's courier network. JET reported 342,000 connected partners across all brands at 30 June 2025, and the UK and Ireland segment posted EUR 3.6 billion of gross transaction value in that half. The app also sells groceries and convenience (Co-op in the UK, Dia in Spain, Migros in Switzerland), pharmacy items and retail such as CeX. The UK has had Just Eat+, a subscription with free delivery on eligible orders and partner perks, since July 2025. Under Prosus the stated strategy is an operational turnaround: leaving sub-scale markets and investing in own delivery, technology and AI.
For a chain the platform is a set of per-location controls. Prices, opening hours, offers and paid placement are configured branch by branch, and the Performance Score Just Eat calculates is a per-branch number too. Nothing reports upward when one of those settings drifts out of line with the rest of the estate: on the head-office side a branch that is quietly closed, mispriced or missing its offer looks exactly like a branch that is fine, and the difference surfaces weeks later as orders that did not arrive. That is why Kitchain watches Just Eat from the outside, on the same public pages a customer opens, alongside the other platforms a chain sells through.
Where Just Eat operates
As of August 2026 the Just Eat brand trades in five Western European countries, each on its own consumer site: just-eat.co.uk, just-eat.ie, just-eat.es, justeat.it and just-eat.ch. The UK and Ireland also run their own partner knowledge centres. The table lists active Just Eat markets only; the group's sister brands, such as Thuisbezorgd in the Netherlands, Lieferando in Germany and Skip in Canada, are separate platforms and are not shown here.
| Country | Since | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | — | Largest market; London HQ from 2006; Just Eat+ subscription since July 2025 |
| Ireland | 2008 | Own partner site partnerinfo.just-eat.ie |
| Spain | — | Organic launch; SinDelantal and La Nevera Roja acquired later |
| Italy | 2011 | Entered via ClickEat acquisition; site justeat.it |
| Switzerland | — | Formerly eat.ch; Migros grocery partner |
Just Eat left Denmark, the brand's birthplace, in April 2026, and has also exited France and Norway; earlier Just Eat-brand operations in the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Brazil and India were sold, folded into sister brands or withdrawn.
Kitchain on Just Eat: six monitors, one outside-in method
Kitchain reads the same public Just Eat pages a customer opens. There is no partner-portal login, no API key and no point-of-sale integration: you give us one listing per location, and each monitor reads what the customer is shown. Availability is checked about every 10 minutes per listing; ratings, promotions and menus are captured daily; listing position is measured at set times of day from real addresses; delivery coverage is captured for the platform and hour you book.
Just Eat downtime and availability alerts: Kitchain Alert
Live on Just Eat
Orderpad, the Just Eat order tablet, lets staff appear offline when things get too busy, and switching it back on is what gets forgotten once the rush passes; a device turned off at close on Saturday is still off at Sunday lunch. The branch then shows as closed or drops out of the list, and the order goes to whatever is next on the screen, which on Just Eat may be a supermarket or a retailer rather than another restaurant. Nobody at head office is told. Kitchain Alert checks every location's public Just Eat listing about every 10 minutes, 24/7, and sends a Just Eat downtime alert by email, WhatsApp or Telegram, typically 10–20 minutes after the location goes offline, once a confirmation check has ruled out a momentary blip. Each outage is logged with its start, end and duration against the hours you gave us, and a daily report arrives at 10:00 local time.

Just Eat rating tracking: Kitchain Rating
Live on Just Eat
Just Eat's UK rating system, introduced in August 2025, works differently from most platforms. Customers score food on five stars and delivery on a three-point emoji scale, weighted equally, and the listed figure is the median of all order ratings from the last 12 months, shown with the number of ratings. A branch on Just Eat Delivery is therefore rated partly on courier performance it does not control. And a 12-month median barely moves, then moves in a step, so a slide that shows gradually elsewhere arrives here as a sudden drop — and because that median also feeds ranking, the drop costs position. Kitchain Rating records the rating and review count on each Just Eat listing daily, so Just Eat rating monitoring becomes a dated history: when the median moved, which locations sit under your threshold, and how the same kitchen compares on Deliveroo or Uber Eats. Ireland, Spain, Italy and Switzerland may display ratings differently.

Just Eat promotion monitoring: Kitchain Promo
Live on Just Eat
Just Eat's promotion levers are all switched on per location, starting with restaurant-funded offers and discounts. StampCards is the loyalty lever: five stamps, one per order, earn the customer a discount on the sixth from the same restaurant; it is free to activate in Partner Hub and Just Eat handles tracking and redemption. In the UK there are also Just Eat+ member perks such as free items and 2-for-1 deals. The customer sees the offer label on the card and the price on the menu; head office sees the campaign it configured, and they drift apart when a StampCard was never activated at one branch, a discount is set at one value and shown at another, or a perk appears at some branches only. Kitchain Promo captures the Just Eat promotions visible on each listing once a day, on the same visit as the availability check, records a no-promotions day as a fact, flags an expected offer that is missing, and benchmarks competitors' discounts in the same area.

Where you rank in the Just Eat listing: Kitchain Visibility
Configured per account
The Just Eat feed is not a restaurant ranking: Co-op, Greggs, CeX, Dia and Migros share the same search results as takeaways, so the first screen a customer sees mixes groceries and retail with your cuisine. Just Eat says the overall rating directly influences that search ranking. Two paid products sit above that ordering: TopRank, the visibility booster, and Promoted Placement, which puts a restaurant in one of the top five search positions. Both are configured per restaurant, so one branch can be promoted while the branch in the next town is not. Kitchain Visibility measures your Just Eat listing position from saved map points at set times of day in the city's own timezone, records your rank in the whole feed and within your cuisine, and captures the cards above you with their rating, promotion and quoted delivery time. It is not Google SEO. Visibility is set up per account for the cities and platforms you name.

Just Eat delivery coverage by district: Kitchain Coverage
Configured per account
Coverage on Just Eat depends on which delivery model a branch runs. A self-delivering partner sets its own area; a branch on Just Eat Delivery reaches only as far as Just Eat's own couriers will carry a hot order from that address. Two branches of the same chain can therefore serve very different maps, and neither model reports coverage to head office by district: a Just Eat delivery zone that shrinks at Friday dinner, or a quoted wait that has crept up in one neighbourhood, shows up only as lost orders. Kitchain Coverage measures zone by zone whether your brand is available on Just Eat and what delivery time the platform quotes there, from captures you book for the platforms and hours that matter, drawn against a monthly allowance. It is not continuous, sends no alerts, and the quoted time is what Just Eat shows, not the real delivery time. Coverage is configured per account, for the Just Eat cities and any other platforms you name.

Frequently asked questions
Which Just Eat countries can Kitchain monitor?
All five: the UK, Ireland, Spain, Italy and Switzerland. Each is a separate consumer site, so a five-country chain is set up country by country — one listing ID per country site, and no single cross-country view of the brand. Just Eat+ is a UK product whose availability in the other four markets is not confirmed, so do not assume a Spanish or Italian promo history will show member perks.
What does Kitchain need to start monitoring a Just Eat location?
One listing URL or restaurant ID per location from the Just Eat site of that country, for example a just-eat.co.uk or justeat.it restaurant page. Setup takes about 10 minutes and there is no integration: Kitchain does not sign in to Partner Hub or Orderpad, connect to your POS or read order data. It reads the same public page a customer opens.
Does Kitchain see the reviews shown in Partner Hub?
No. Partner Hub shows a restaurant its latest customer reviews; Kitchain never opens the portal and does not collect or reply to review text. It records only what Just Eat displays publicly on the listing, the overall rating and the number of ratings, every day, so you get a dated history rather than individual comments.
Can Kitchain tell whether TopRank or Promoted Placement is working?
Only by measurement, not through Just Eat's own reporting. Visibility records your listing position from the same map points at the same times of day before and after a paid placement runs, and shows which cards sit above you, so you can see whether the paid position was actually there when your customers looked.
